What type of teacher are you?

Before going through ICT and why ICT should be used in class, we would like to remind you that the 21st century is an era where information is not a problem anymore… everybody has access to it… Therefore it is important to be an UP-TO-DATE Teacher, to keep your students focused and motivated to learn your subject.

“Educational change depends on what teachers do and think – it is as simple and as complex as that” (Fullan, 2007:129). This indicates that teachers determine to what extent will apply education change in their teaching practices (Aslan & Zhu, 2016).

∇ Think a moment …

→ What are you doing today to make your students learn better?

→ What type of teacher do you think you are?

∇ Remember:

→ YOU promote change by how you think and act!

∇ Fullen (1989) cited in Watson (2001) states that “change or improvement can happen at schools if teachers understand themselves and [are] understood by others. For instance, many teachers are currently not in a position to make informed judgements on ICTs to support their teaching goals.” (Mikre, 2011)

A first step to understand yourself and how ICT helps you in your class stop a moment and think about:

→ Try to think about your subject.

→ Now relate your subject to ICT and think how technology could help you teach your subject better.
