Prepare yourself mentally and manage your energy

il - Copy

Make sure that you take into consideration a certain mental and physical preparation for the class.

⇨ Focus on the lesson and do not concentrate on several things at the time.  You might end up burning the food and losing the class attention if you try to do both.

⇨ Dress comfortable in a way that increases your well-being, but in the same time respect the dress code you have set up with your class.

⇨ Make sure you have a glass of water nearby.

⇨ Prepare for the lesson and for your students and try to visualize the lesson before it starts. Remember your objectives and timings.

A few small changes you can do when you sit in front of the computer for hours(3) could be:

  • Create, for yourself and for your students, opportunities to stand up and move, periodically. For example, once in 15 minutes
  • Remember to breathe deeply once in a while
  • When you have a break, “look in the distance for twenty seconds - find the most distant corner of the room, and focus your gaze on it for 20 seconds”
  • Correct your posture in front of the computer and open the window periodically for fresh air

Reflection:

Choose, based on the info above, one thing you can focus on in the next few days in order to prioritize simple well-being moments.

Remind yourself of your general well-being

The general well-being rules are the same, just that they are even more important when teaching online:

  • Sleep enough and rest properly
  • Eat healthy
  • Take care of your body by walking, moving, exercising
  • Find ways to recharge your energy with your favorite activities and company
