Teaching persona
One of the most important questions for a teacher is
How do the students perceive me?
You want to share knowledge with them, but you also want to keep them curious about learning, interested in what you are saying and at the same time confident enough to ask questions and respond.
And you want to balance professionalism and friendliness in your communication without being too academic or too familiar and anecdotic. Therefore you might find it useful to develop a teaching persona: the character you want to present in front of the class.
Effective lecturers combine the talents of scholar, writer, producer, comedian, showman, and teacher in ways that contribute to student learning.
